Tinkercad Auto-Save and Disconnection
Tinkercad saves automatically only while it is connected to its servers. A red Disconnected message means new changes are not being saved.
Prevent lost work
- Check the top-right corner before you stop working.
- Close the Tinkercad tab when class ends rather than leaving it open for days.
- Export an STL backup at the end of every class.
- Store backups in a clearly named course folder.
If you see “Disconnected”
Do not reload or close the page immediately.
- Export the current design as an STL backup.
- Select everything with Command + A and copy it.
- Open a new Tinkercad design and paste the model there.
- Confirm that the new document reconnects and saves.
Danger
Reloading a disconnected page before exporting or copying can erase unsaved work.
